Join experienced teacher Joseph in this 3-part series of workshops, to explore the ancient art of writing Chinese characters with a brush. The sessions are perfect for complete newcomers to the language and culture, but also for speakers and writers of Cantonese that would like to improve their calligraphy skills.
- Introduction to Calligraphy: Participants learn about the history and significance of Chinese calligraphy
- Materials Provided: All necessary materials, including brushes, ink, and paper, are provided. Participants can take home their completed artwork
- Step-by-Step Guidance: The workshop includes detailed demonstrations of stroke techniques and character formation, making it accessible for beginners
- Cultural Immersion: Workshops often include discussions on the cultural and aesthetic aspects of calligraphy, enhancing the overall experience
The sessions are offered for free to all as part of Hampshire Libraries' use of The South East Strategic Partnership for Migration (SESPM) fund.
