Christmas Watercolour Workshop - The Snow Family

New Milton Library

10.00am to 12.30pm

How to paint a family of snow people with watercolours.

Learning Goals:

Discuss painting terminology
Demonstrate how to draw and paint a snow person
Lay a wash for the sky
Balance the elements of your design (picture composition) to create a pleasing format

Who is this course for: This course is aimed at complete beginners and intermediate painters looking to try new techniques. This learning will take place in a friendly classroom setting, in the library, where you can learn and connect with like-minded people

Previous knowledge or experience: None required

How will I learn: Discussion, demonstration, and independent painting in class

How will I be assessed: Discussion and your painting

What shall I bring: watercolour paints with a mixing tray, a selection of large and small brushes, watercolour paper (300g/m2 weight is advisable), HB pencil and eraser, a plastic pot or an ice cube tray to hold water. (Please don’t bring anything breakable.)
Or: Alternatively, materials can be provided by the tutor for a one–off payment of £2.50 for the session

Next steps: This course will equip you with a good understanding of the basics of watercolour painting that will enable you to move on to more challenging courses and other workshops

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.

If a learner decides to withdraw from a course before a course begins, the following charges should be made:

• 5 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued

• No refunds will normally be made if a learner withdraws from a course less than 4 working days before the start of the course
