Hampshire School Transport - DBS for Driver or Operator PA

The work of a School Transport Driver/Passenger Assistant involves access to children and/or vulnerable adults. As this meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all contract drivers and passenger assistants are subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), and an overseas check known as a “good conduct bond” from all other countries resided in during the 10 years prior to the date of application.

The Information that will be Disclosed

The DBS check will reveal all convictions, cautions, bind-over orders, final warnings and reprimands and any other non-conviction information. Hampshire County Council operates an Equal Opportunities Policy. This means that having a criminal record will not necessarily bar anyone from working for Hampshire County Council but this is subject to the County Council’s overriding duty to protect children and vulnerable adults. All efforts are made to prevent unfair discrimination against those with criminal records. A criminal record is only taken into account if it is relevant to the work offered and this will depend on the circumstances and the background to the offence(s).  Link to Hampshire County Council General Privacy Notice
