About the Course: The process of being creative can bring numerous health benefits and general feelings of wellbeing. Research shows that taking up a creative Art/Craft can help, amongst other things depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, insomnia and raising levels of happiness

Who is this course for: If you feel you need to bring moments of calm to your life, improve your levels of health and wellbeing then come and create some Art! This course covers the basics and you’ll be gently led through a series of activities

Previous Knowledge or Experience: No previous knowledge is required, just lots of enthusiasm and a desire to have fun. This course will teach you how to embrace “mistakes” and “errors” and love them as they are: new opportunities! It will also teach you how to see beauty in unusual places

How will I learn: You will learn by watching a demonstration, this will be done step by step and then you will follow those steps with Fatima’s advice along the way too. Having a tutor on the other side of the screen means you can also ask any questions during the length of the class plus you can also ask for feedback between sessions. You will also learn by doing, playing and creating wonderful mistakes and make them work with a few tricks. Part of the learning process will be evaluating your own work and giving feedback to and receiving feedback from Fatima each session. This process will help you grow in confidence as well as communication skills while discovering your learning and art style. Fatima will provide images prior to the session. You are welcome to use your own photos, however, try to stick to the topic/subject so you can follow the demos

How will I be assessed: Before the course starts you will have a meeting with the tutor where you will discuss interests and previous experience (if any). This will help the Tutor to know you and to be able to provide a more tailored teaching. This first meeting will also be used as a trial to see how you get on with Zoom. You will also have a meeting at the end of the course as part of the assessment

During the length of the course, you will have contact with the Tutor via a Facebook group, WhatsApp and/or email, where you can reach her for additional feedback

What shall I bring: a materials list will be provided a week prior the first session. Please email Fatima if you require the list sooner (fpantojafernandez@gmail.com)

Next Steps: Further art and craft sessions or attendance at a local art group
