Drawing for Beginners

Saturday 25th February, 4th, 11th and 18th March 2023

10.00am to 12.00pm

A course covering different aspects of drawing that is suitable for beginners. Learn how to look more carefully at your subject in order to draw more realistically.
The course provides a supportive environment for to develop your drawing using graphite pencils and give you the confidence to develop your own work.

  • Using pencils, use line to accurately draw the shape of objects, and how to correct your own mistakes.
  • Understand how tone makes objects look realistic and use it to achieve the illusion of three dimensionality in your drawing
  • Using graphite pencils, use layering and erasers in your work to help build depth and texture
  • Learn how to achieve a pleasing composition of objects on the page and compose a simple scene to draw

Who is this course for: People who would love to learn how to draw step-by-step in a fun, supportive and encouraging environment

Previous knowledge or experience: No experience necessary, but you’re welcome if you have a bit of experience too and would like to consolidate your knowledge

How will I learn: You will learn from watching the tutor demonstrate techniques then having a go yourself

How will I be assessed: You will receive encouragement and constructive feedback throughout the sessions

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
