Drawing With Scissors – Matisse Style Cut Outs

Tadley Library

1.00pm to 2.30pm

By using scissors instead of paintbrushes and pens we will learn develop new ways of expressing shapes and forms.

Arrange shapes and colours in a vibrant and dynamic way
Identify where cuts need to be made to create forms
Use your hands and eyes together
Apply different coloured papers to build a picture
Create a figurative or organic collage using the materials supplied
Demonstrate an understanding of colour, line and form

Who is this course for: Learners keen to explore collage as a medium, looking for a new way to plan composition and anyone wishing to learn more about Matisse

Previous knowledge or experience: No previous knowledge or experience is necessary to access this course

How will I learn: You will be guided through the process with access to visual references and books to provide inspiration

How will I be assessed: Your tutor will work with you to support you throughout. We encourage group discussion and ideas sharing

What shall I bring: Although this is a “low mess” activity you may wish to bring an apron. Your tutor will supply everything else that you need. If you are left-handed and require left-handed scissors, then please let us know and we will ensure these are available

£7.50 per session (Plus £2.00 for materials payable on the day)

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
