Learn how to communicate in sign language - An introduction into BSL
Wednesday 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th November, 7th and 14th December 2022
10.00am to 12.00pm
A fun and engaging introductory course in learning how to communicate with deaf or hearing-impaired people in basic British sign language.
- Sign 12 different emotions/feelings
- Sign 10 different types of weather
- Sign 12 different colours
- Sign numbers up to 20 and the days of the week
- Sign your name, and where you live
- Finger spell the whole alphabet
- Finger spell your name and the names of your family/friends
Who is this course for: Beginners will progress in learning basic vocabulary and conversational skills
Previous knowledge or experience: None is required
How will I learn: By demonstration and hands-on practice. Practice between lessons is highly recommended. Each lesson builds on the previous one
How will I be assessed: By observation
What shall I bring: Pen and paper to make notes and a folder to keep handouts in
Next steps: Level 1 in BSL
Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
