Level 2 Bikeability Training

9.00am to 12.00pm or 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Requirements: Must be able to ride a bike confidently, and be ready for on road environment

It is aimed at children in Year 5 upwards.

Info: This is a half-day Level 2 Bikeability course is for those who can already cycle and are looking to improve their awareness and safety on the roads. The first part of the session is conducted on a playground assessing basic cycling skills and ensuring that students are safe to participate with on the road training, followed by on-road cycling using quiet residential streets. The main aim of the course is that the children will be able to make a short journey in a safer manner and be more aware of road safety issues.

Each participant will need a fully operational bike with two working brakes and a cycle helmet. Hi-Vis jackets will be provided to all children during the training.

Please ensure that all children are appropriately dressed for all weather types. If they wish to bring water, then they must have a means to carry this during the session.

At the end of the training, the children will be given a certificate confirming they have completed the course and will highlight the areas of Level 2 that they have achieved, as well as areas that they need to practice further.

In order to participate in the course, all children must be a confident rider, show control when cycling one-handed and be able to go out on to the roads.

No refunds are given unless we need to cancel the course.

The activity will take place outside, so please ensure that appropriate clothing is worn.

  • Each child will need a fully operational bike with two working brakes and a cycle helmet (we have some available on request)
  • Children must wear a helmet
  • A hi-vis jacket will be given to any child who is cycling on the road - you can bring your own if you would like too

You can move on to Level 3 once Level 2 has been completed, you will need to leave at least 4 weeks between each course so the rider can put in to practice the knowledge from Level 2.
