Makaton Signing with Babies and Families

Thursday 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th November, 5th and 12th December 2024
10.00am to 11.00am
To teach parents/carers about visual communication when interacting with children through play and activities.
- Describe what Makaton is
- List 3 ways Makaton can be used to develop communication and language skills with your babies/family
- Demonstrate 20 signs to use in your home and apply them day to day
- Describe the importance of sign production techniques and components of visual communication
About the course: Makaton Signing for Babies sessions are designed for you and your child to have fun and learn together. Makaton Signing for Babies training is a series of sessions designed to encourage the development of communication and language skills in babies and toddlers. All the sessions are fun and interactive for you and your child. You will learn approximately 100 signs and symbols using songs, games and activities
Who is this course for: Parents/carers or family members and their child aged 6 months plus
Previous knowledge or experience: No previous knowledge is required to attend
How will I learn: Through activities including singing, Makaton signing and stories with your baby
How will I be assessed: Informal assessment by the tutor
What shall I bring: Chairs will be provided but please bring along a cushion/blanket should you wish to sit on the floor

If a learner decides to withdraw from a course before a course begins, the following charges should be made:
- 5 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued
- No refunds will normally be made if a learner withdraws from a course less than 4 working days before the start of the course
Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
