Mindful Mark Making

Friday 1st, 8th, 15th and 29th November 2024

10.00am to 1.00pm

To develop your skills and confidence in using mindful art activities through pen and wash and creative marks.

Learning Goals: (by the end of the course you will be able to…)

  • Undertake at least 4 mindful activities
  • Identify how mindful activities can help you feel calmer/more relaxed
  • Create at least one artwork based on patterns and marks
  • Create one pen and wash artwork
  • Create a pattern booklet for completing after the course has ended

Who is this course for: Individuals looking to improve their wellbeing through developing their creative skills

Previous knowledge or experience: This course is ideal for beginners or those who are new to art or wanting to build their skills and confidence.

Some understanding of drawing techniques is helpful but not essential.

How will I learn: Through a range of activities and observing the tutor.

How will I be assessed: Through completing activities and through class discussion

  • What shall I bring:
    A drawing pencil (2B is fine)
  • Some watercolour paints (tubes or pans)
  • A small range of watercolour pencils (if you want to use them)
  • At least 1 brush (round and pointy if possible)
  • Water pot and old cloth/kitchen roll
  • A palette or old plastic lid to mix colours in
  • Fineliner (waterproof) or biros. Black, brown or blue ink is fine for biros or fineliner. You are welcome to bring a small range of colours if you
  • prefer i.e. Blue, black, red, green, purple, brown
  • Plenty of cartridge paper (preferably A4) for practicing and activities
  • Heavier cartridge or watercolour paper (A4) for longer pictures
  • A photo or image to inspire your artworks
  • A drawing board or something to lean up on (A3)

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
