Painting Objects in Watercolour - Creating a Still Life

Free tuition, £10 for materials

To be able to paint, in watercolour, a variety of materials and create the impression of realistic objects within a still life composition

Learning Goals: (by the end of the course you will be able to…)

  • Define the role of colour and tone in combination to create realism
  • Demonstrate how to paint a variety of objects using each medium, (eg metal, ceramics, cloth and fruit) in at least 3 compositions
  • Apply your knowledge of watercolour in a layered approach
  • Describe the impact of using watercolours on your wellbeing

Who is this course for: Anyone wishing to gain an understanding of watercolour and wanting to create paintings that include objects

Previous knowledge or experience: None required except lots of enthusiasm, willingness to learn and a desire to have fun

How will I learn: Everyone will learn though demonstration and practical application

How will I be assessed: Regular critique during lessons from a professional artist

What shall I bring: Please bring £10 to give to the artist as a contribution towards his materials. (Please note there is a range of paints provided and the palette range of colours is quite extensive)

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
