An introduction to the basic and more advanced functions of your camera to help you take photos to be proud of.

  • Demonstrate the basic controls of your camera and how other options help take better pictures
  • Describe the importance of, and relationship between, aperture and shutter speed
  • Demonstrate the principles of good composition and the use of natural lighting
  • To download, store and share photos
  • To adjust images to enhance them, including cropping and minor correction techniques

Who is this course for: Beginner photographers wanting a better understanding of how their camera works and the basics of photographic composition. You will be encouraged to take photos in the classroom and outside and explore the features on your camera as they arise.

Previous Knowledge or Experience: No previous experience is required for this course although a basic understanding of your camera would be helpful.

How will I learn: By discussion, demonstration and practical tasks

How will I be assessed: By completion of tasks, questions and answers.

What shall I bring: A digital camera and compatible memory card and charged batteries Mobile phone cameras can also be used.

This course is aimed at Hampshire residents aged 19+ Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
