Winchester’s Story Told Through Archaeology: Part 2 (Later Saxon to the First World War)
Gosport Discovery Centre
Saturday 25th March 2023
10.00am to 1.00pm
Learners will be able to understand an overview of the later period of Winchester through archaeological discovery, from the time of King Edgar up to the First World War.
By the end of this workshop, students will be able to analyse specific archaeological investigations such as excavations, and assess what we can learn from them and their contribution to the history of Winchester, and which methods could be suggested for future use.
This is part 2 of 2 workshops. This workshop will focus on the later Saxon/Viking period up to the time of the First World War, via the changing Medieval to Tudor times, and the final outbreak of the Great Plague in the 17th century.
