An introduction to the craft of quilling.

  • Create at least three different shapes from a loose coil shape.
  • Create at least three different scrolls from different strip lengths
  • Arrange coil shapes and scrolls into a festive card or free hanging decoration

Who is the course for: Beginners and improvers. Individuals looking to start or develop their quilling skills during this festive session. This is an ideal craft to carry on at home needing minimal materials, tools and space.

Previous knowledge/experience required: None. What is required is lots of enthusiasm, willingness to learn and a desire to have fun. This is a very relaxed workshop.

This craft does require dexterity.

How will I learn: Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, curved and glued together to create a decorative design. In this workshop you will learn how to start quilling using 10mm strips of paper. There will be step by step demonstrations before you carry out each practical activity. References and templates will be provided.

How will I be assessed: Through observation, questioning, discussion and peer/self-evaluation.

What you’ll need: Strips of coloured paper  (inc white)10mm or 5mm in width. Slotted quilling tool. Quilling ruler template. Tacky glue (p.v.a) in a small applicator bottle. Scissors. Tweezers. White or coloured A4 card. A4 cardboard put inside a plastic sleeve (like a file punched hole folder sleeve). Dressmaker pins. Pencil.
