Art for Wellbeing - Mixed Media

Free (£15 materials cost, payable to the tutor at the start of the course)

To build on the importance of art connected to our own health and wellbeing.

  • Demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding in selecting and applying a wide range of 2D techniques, media, tools and equipment effectively and safely
  • Identify formal elements/visual language and composition through the investigation and development of weekly themes, materials, processes and techniques
  • Select and apply a range of mixed media techniques, to create weekly sample
  • Produce a range of finished 2D artwork
  • Describe and review the impact of art on your own personal wellbeing (group discussion and tutor notes)

About the course: About the course: An introduction to the art for wellbeing, mixed media and mixed media techniques through the development and creation of unique artwork. Exploring different skills and techniques in experimenting with a range of mixed media techniques in a variety of ways. Learn about and apply basic formal elements and visual language to your artwork. Creating a portfolio of samples and artwork within the course. Review own and others creative practice in weekly group discussions and 1-1 tutor feedback

Who is this course for: Mixed abilities- all welcome! No previous experience required

Previous knowledge or experience: None required. Beginners level

How will I learn: Tutor demonstrations, questions and answers, practical activities, samples and finished artwork

How will I be assessed: Formative assessment only through Q and A, practical activities/ samples (tutor process photographs), mixed media outcomes and tutor notes throughout the course

What shall I bring: Apron or wear old clothing. Box folder to place artwork in. Notebook

Next steps: Continue to develop skills, knowledge and understanding within mixed media art in future courses and/or workshops (LiL or independent)

If a learner decides to withdraw from a course before a course begins, the following charges should be made:

  • 5 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued
  • No refunds will normally be made if a learner withdraws from a course less than 4 working days before the start of the course
