Seascape Art for Wellbeing

2.00pm to 4.30pm

To develop your skills and confidence in using mindful art activities based on seascapes.

  • Create at least one artwork based on seascapes
  • Create at least one artwork based on seascape colours
  • Undertake at least 4 mindful activities
  • Identify how mindful nature activities can help you feel calmer/more relaxed
  • Create a plan for undertaking nature activities after the course has ended

About the course: Approachable session and activities to help you use different mindful art activities and to build your skills and confidence in creating different types of art. We will be using photographs, collected natural objects and images to inspire our art

Who is this course for: Individuals looking to develop their creative skills to improve their wellbeing

Previous knowledge or experience: This course is ideal for beginners or those who are new to art or wanting to build their skills and confidence. Some experience of drawing is helpful but not essential

How will I learn: Through a range of activities, demonstration and practice

How will I be assessed: Through completing activities and class discussion

What shall I bring:

  • Drawing pencils I.e. 2B, 3B
  • Watercolour pencils
  • At least 1 brush (round and pointy if possible)
  • Fineliner (water resistant) or biros. Black, brown or blue ink is fine for biros or fineliner. You are welcome to bring a small range of colours if you prefer i.e. Blue, black, red, green, purple, brown
  • Plenty of cartridge paper (preferably A4) for practicing and activities
  • Heavier cartridge paper (A4) for your main pictures
  • A photo or image or artificial/collected objects i.e. pebbles, shells connected to the sea to inspire your artworks
  • A drawing board or something to lean up on (A3)

Next steps: Further art classes with LiL or attendance at weekly art and craft sessions held at your local Library

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
