Summer Floristry

Yateley Library

Monday 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th June 2024

10.00am to 12.00pm

To teach learners some of the key fundamental floristry skills & techniques. Leaners will make a variety of summer designs. The leaners will gain confidence over the course to develop their skills. All this may lead to further courses.

  • To gain and demonstrate basic knowledge of floristry skills & techniques
  • Perform and assemble materials and products used in the floristry industry
  • Define and apply learners understanding of flower & foliage terminology and care & conditioning
  • Describe the impact of floristry on wellbeing

Who is this course for: Anyone who feels creative and wants to learn something new and take home a new design each week

Previous knowledge or experience: None needed

How will I learn: Through demonstration, practice and feedback from the tutor

How will I be assessed: Feedback will be given to the individual on their completed design

What shall I bring: first session- Summer Handtied Bouquet –

  • X 5-6 stems of a focal flower i.e. Peonies, Roses, Carnations
  • X 10 stems of a filler flower i.e. Wax flower, Thistle,, Solidago, vibernum
  • X5 stems of a tall/line flower i.e. Stocks,Delphinium,Antirrinhams
  • X 5 stems of Hard Ruscus or another straight stemmed foliage
  • X 5 stems of Eucalyptus or other full branch foliage
  • Any extra garden foliages (this could be from your own garden)
  • 3m clear cellophane, x 3 sheets of coloured tissue paper
  • Some ribbon to make a bow
  • A vase to transport the bouquet home in.
  • Bucket to put flowers in, bin bag, note book and pen
  • Floristry scissors and knife
  • Twine or string

If a learner decides to withdraw from a course before a course begins, the following charges should be made:

  • 5 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued
  • No refunds will normally be made if a learner withdraws from a course less than 4 working days before the start of the course

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
