Ukulele for Improvers
Hythe Library
Tuesday 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th June and 2nd July 2024
10.30am to 12.00pm
Continue your musical journey with a ukulele for improvers course. The course is for those who have completed the beginners’ course – or are at a similar stage in their learning – and will enable you to enjoy playing a more challenging range of songs and chords, as well as developing your strumming technique.
- Increase your chord knowledge
- Play a wider range of songs on the ukulele, including pop and country
- Improve your strumming and finger picking
- Play songs using 3 and 4 chords
About the course: Participants will learn more chords including barre chords, develop their strumming techniques and learn basic fingerpicking in a folk/county style. These will be used to play a wider range of songs and tunes. Learners will need their own ukulele and be able to play some basic chords in the open position. All learning materials will be provided
Who is this course for: Anyone who has learned the basic of playing a ukulele and wants to develop their skills
Previous knowledge or experience: You will have already completed the beginners’ course or be at a similar level. If in doubt, please ask for further information
How will I learn: Through tutor demonstration, group discussions and playing the ukulele
How will I be assessed: Tutor observation, playing the ukulele
What shall I bring: Please bring your own ukulele. All course materials will be provided
Next steps: This course could lead to further ukulele classes such as the Learning in Libraries’ Fingerpicking on the Ukulele course or membership of a local group. The chord fingerings of the ukulele are like those used on the guitar but much easier to manage, so this course could also be seen as a step towards playing the guitar
If a learner decides to withdraw from a course before a course begins, the following charges should be made:
- 5 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued
- No refunds will normally be made if a learner withdraws from a course less than 4 working days before the start of the course
Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
You will be contacted by a member of the learning in Libraries team prior to the course. We are unable to process your booking without a phone number.
