Allergy Awareness Food Hygiene course - E-learning course

This Level 2 course teaches the learner to prepare and serve food safely in an early years setting, taking into account the needs of children with food allergies. It takes 1-2 hours to complete. It sets out both the legal responsibilities of settings as food businesses (food safety legislation) and early years setting (EYFS framework). The eLearning has been created in collaboration between both food safety and early years industry experts – as such, it is a definitive resource for any setting serving food to children up to 5 years.

It is crucial that anyone working in an Early Years catering environment is sufficiently allergy trained, and this course is suitable for Early Years chefs and cooks, educators and practitioners, nursery workers, childminders, playworkers and preschool teachers and assistants. This course is written in line with the EYFS framework and is updated to meet the requirements of new versions of the EYFS as they are released.

The eLearning course will cover the following aspects:

  • Allergens and UK/EU law
  • Introduction to allergens
  • The 14 named allergens
  • Recipe writing and ingredient panels
  • Prerequisites (preventing allergenic contamination)
  • Service considerations (preventing allergenic contamination)
  • Emergency response

Who is eligible? All childcare practitioners (including Childminders) who handle and prepare food in their setting/workplace

Once you have purchased a place on an eLearning, a login will be emailed to you.
