Business Health Check Support Tool

The Business Health Check Support Tool, developed by the Services for Young Children Childcare Development Officers, is designed to assist childcare providers in evaluating and improving their business operations.

By systematically working through the questions in each section, you will be able to assess your childcare business competency across various business areas, including:

• Management and Governance – focusing on regulatory and governance requirements
• Staff and Employment – focusing on effective staffing processes for new and employed staff
• Finance and Planning – focusing on management of cashflows, budgets, controls, and reporting on financial matters
• Improving Business Efficiency and Quality – focusing on business planning, systems and processes, and considering business risk
• Marketing and Growth – focusing on working with existing and new customers and being responsive to changes in communities and demands

As you work through your self-evaluation, or upon its completion, you have the opportunity to schedule a support appointment with a Childcare Development Officer to discuss any queries you may have.

Included with access to this tool is a Business Surgery appointment, which will encompass discussions, action planning, and the provision of further support as needed.
