Health and Hygiene Self-Evaluation Support Tool

The Health and Hygiene Self-Evaluation Support Tool, developed by the Services for Young Children Childcare Development Officers, is designed to assist childcare providers in evaluating and improving the health and hygiene aspects of their provision.

By systematically working through the questions in each section, you will be able to assess your childcare provisions health and hygiene policy and practices across various areas, including:

• Structures and Policy – documentation, monitoring, and records
• Staff Health and Training – including induction, supervision, instruction, and training
• Cleaning Routines and Audits – of equipment and facilities
• Cleaning Play Equipment and Resources
• Laundry, Washing, Toileting, and Waste Disposal
• Food Storage and Preparation
• Pets, Animals, and Pest Control
• Illness, Accidents, and Medicines

As you work through your self-evaluation, or upon its completion, you have the opportunity to schedule a support appointment with a Childcare Development Officer to discuss any queries you may have.

Access to this tool includes a Business Surgery appointment, which will encompass discussions, action planning, and the provision of further support as needed.

Once you have purchased this support tool, a login will be emailed to you within 5 working days.
