Archaeology Workshop: Britain after the Romans: what happened to the inhabitants?

10.00am to 1.00pm

To consider the evidence for what kinds of societies existed after the Roman occupation notionally departed in 410 AD.

• Use at least 2 case studies to analyse the different kinds of evidence e.g. artefacts, building remains, environmental
• Compare the current range of evidence from different sites selected from the Case Studies
• Form independent conclusions about the nature of these societies and the way they were organised: socially and economically

Who is this course for: Anyone with an interest in the past and how it can be investigated

Previous knowledge or experience: No previous knowledge is required, but a keen interest in the past helps

What shall I bring: Bring notebooks, pencils, pens, a clear ruler

Next steps: A programme of introductory course on different time periods and themes at the Discovery Centre (if not already attended) Plus information on Societies to join and sites and museums to visit, and finally more in-depth local courses to attend to increase knowledge and understanding of archaeology today

If a learner decides to withdraw from a course before a course begins, the following charges should be made:

• 21 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued
• 7 - 20 working days before course starts a £10 admin fee will be charged
• Less than 7 working days before the course starts no refund will be made
