Learners will develop confidence and creative skills through mixed media art, using images and words to explore personal experiences, express emotions and support their mental wellbeing. Through a relaxed and supportive environment, learners will use creative activities as a tool for reflection, stress reduction, self-expression and positive we

Learning Goals:

  • Develop your skills in mixed media portraiture by using at least 2 different materials and incorporating a personal quote or lyric into your work
  • Complete a landscape-themed artwork integrating a reflective or poetic text element
  • Create a abstract piece using 2 different materials whilst embedding quotes
  • Reflect on how creative activities have supported your confidence, relaxation and emotional wellbeing, and identify one way to continue using art for wellbeing after the course.

About the course: Learners will create artwork inspired by the weekly theme, combining visual elements with words to express emotions and personal narratives. They will have the option to refine their pieces after each session, supporting both artistic growth and personal wellbeing

Who is this course for: This course, funded by UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ who love being creative and are looking to improve their wellbeing through art.

Please note: Eligibility criteria applies and will be checked upon enrolment.

Course purpose: To improve health and wellbeing

Previous knowledge or experience: Previous art experience is useful but not essential

How will I learn: by demonstrations by tutor and exploratory methods through own creativity

How will I be assessed: tutor observation, feedback &, individual work

What shall I bring: Please bring pencils and other drawing materials you have for the first week then we will discuss materials for future weeks learners will have to bring in their words to go with their project every week. A landscape photograph from a holiday or somewhere similar that holds memories for you

Next steps: Carry on your creative journey at home, further art sessions through Hampshire Achieves or attend free drop in art or craft sessions in your local library.

This course, funded by Hampshire Achieves, is aimed at Hampshire residents aged 19+. Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
