Learning Goals:

  • Demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding in selecting and applying a wide range of 2D techniques, media, tools and equipment effectively and safely
  • Select and apply a range of mixed media techniques including bubble painting, acrylic paints, pen drawing, oil pastels and collage to create on-going weekly samples and a range of finished 2D artwork
  • Plan the composition and layout for each artwork
  • Produce and display a portfolio of artwork that combines the techniques learnt each week
  • Self-evaluate how engaging with art can improve your wellbeing

About the course: Art for Wellbeing is a gentle, creative course that uses art to support mental and emotional wellbeing. Through simple, expressive activities, you'll relax, reflect, and reconnect with yourself in a supportive space

Who is this course for: If you feel you need to bring moments of calm to you life, improve levels of health and wellbeing, then come and explore some artistic techniques.

Previous knowledge or experience: No experience is needed—just a willingness to explore

How will I learn: Tutor demonstrations, questions and answers, practical activities, samples and finished artwork

How will I be assessed: Formative assessment only through Q and A, practical activities/samples/artwork (process photographs/outcomes) and tutor notes throughout the course.

What shall I bring: Apron or wear old clothing. Materials fee - £1O payable to tutor on the first session

Next steps: Continue to develop skills, knowledge and understanding within mixed media art in future courses and/or workshops with LIL; take part in library-based craft groups, e.g. Knit and Natter; Craft and Chatter

All other materials, tools, equipment and other resources will be provided by the tutor.

Next steps: Progression onto other learning in libraries arts and/or crafts courses and workshops or independent study

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
