Join Isabel for this fun and friendly pen and wash workshop, ideal for those new to pen and wash or those looking to gain confidence and build skills. We’ll be exploring different ways of creating autumnal objects with pen and wash ready for you to create your final painting.

Learning Goals:

• Create three autumn objects in pen and wash
• Explore three compositions for your longer artwork
• Choose and create your final design from the objects and compositions you have created

Aims of the Course: To enable learners to feel confident in creating an autumn pen and wash artwork

Who is this course for: Approachable sessions and activities to help you develop your skills using pen and wash techniques. Ideal for those new to pen and wash or those wanting to gain confidence.

Previous knowledge or experience: A basic understanding of how to draw (i.e. shading, texture, highlights and shadows) is helpful but not essential.

How will I learn: Through a range of activities and observing the tutor.

How will I be assessed: Through completing activities and through class discussion.

What shall I bring:

• Some visual prompts will be available on the day but please bring your own images or objects if you would like to work from these instead.
• A waterproof fine liner (NOT water soluble; it can be black brown or preferred colour.
• A small range of watercolour pencils
• Some watercolour paints (tubes or pans)
• Watercolour paper (220gsm upwards)
• Cartridge paper (100gsm upwards)
• A biro or similar type of pen - any colour
• At least one brush.
• Old cloth or kitchen roll.
• Palette.
• Water pot.
• A pencil (2B is fine).
• An Apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.

Next steps: Carry on practising art at home. Follow on courses and workshops at your local Library/Adult Education Centre. Attendance at free local art/craft sessions at your local library.

Refund: If a learner decides to withdraw from a course before a course begins, the following charges should be made:

• 21 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued
• 7 - 20 working days before course starts a £10 admin fee will be charged
• Less than 7 working days before the course starts no refund will be made
