Improve your overall fitness, coordination, flexibility, strength and balance in this all-round dance inspired workout to music throughout the decades. Dance, Stretch and Tone is inclusive for all abilities.

Learning Goals:

  • Demonstrate coordination, musicality, movement memory and strength in the performance of medium impact dance aerobic routines and dance toning routines with light hand weights. 
  • Perform strength exercises with the resistance bands including the upright row, bicep curl, tricep extension and lateral pull down.
  • Perform Barre strength exercises with a chair including squats, side leg raises, glute rear leg lifts and standing knee lifts and leg raises.
  • Perform a stretch to demonstrate improved flexibility and describe the impact of exercise on wellbeing.

Who is this course for: This inclusive course, funded by UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ who want to improve their health and wellbeing and are looking to improve their fitness, strength and flexibility in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The course can be tailored for individual needs.

Previous knowledge or experience: Everyone is welcome and no previous dance experience is required to attend. This session includes dance aerobics, strength work, barre work with the chair and a stretch for all which could be performed seated or standing.

How will I learn: You will learn by following the tutor and listening to the instruction for exercise.

How will I be assessed: There is no formal assessment on this course. You can assess how you feel alongside the course objectives and your individual progress. 

What shall I bring: Two light hand weights for dance toning routines, or two small 500ml water bottles as a weights substitute. A drink to stay hydrated and comfortable clothing.
