Are you completely new to computers and the Internet? This course will help you get started on using a computer and develop your confidence for using your device. This FREE course is aimed at adults who would like to develop their digital skills in a small, supportive group with the help from an experienced tutor. You will learn all the basics and the key terms you need to get started.

Learning Goals:

  • Find out about different files and how to create and save them
  • Discover how to write and send simple letters and emails
  • Develop your internet skills so you can find information and complete online forms
  • You do all of this while learning how to keep yourself safe online

Who is this course for: This is a course aimed for adults in Hampshire who lack the confidence to use a computer or digital device. The course is designed to give you the skills to be able to open, create and save files, use emails to communicate, and carry out online searches

Previous knowledge or experience: This practical course is suitable for both complete novices as well as those wishing to refresh their digital skills and develop more confidence using a computer

How will I learn: Tutor demonstration, individual and practical activities. You will learn at your own pace and your tutor will tailor your learning to your own level and interests

How will I be assessed: Learner demonstration, tutor feedback and peer support

Next steps: Your tutor will provide you with self-directed learning to do at home so you can continue to develop your digital skills in your own time and at your own pace

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.

You will be contacted by a member of the learning in Libraries team prior to the course. We are unable to process your booking without a phone number.
