To help ESOL learners develop essential digital skills for everyday life, learning, and work, while improving English language confidence through practical use of technology
Learning Goals: by the end of the course you will be able to:
- Use a computer to access the internet safely
- Use basic word processing tools (e.g., typing, saving, printing)
- Navigate online forms and applications
- Understand online safety and digital responsibility
- Improve English language skills through digital tasks
- Access an online shopping site, create a list with prices and the total cost demonstrating Maths skills
Who is this course for: This course, funded by UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ and is designed for ESOL learners with little or no experience using digital devices who want to build confidence in using technology for everyday tasks
Previous knowledge or experience: No prior digital skills are required. Learners’ language levels will be assessed at the start to ensure appropriate support is provided
How will I learn: Through hands-on activities, guided practice, group work, and individual support using real life scenarios and digital tools
How will I be assessed: Progress will be monitored through observation, learner feedback, and completion of practical tasks
What shall I bring: A pen and notebook. Devices will be supplied for learners to use (during lesson time only)
Next steps: Introduction to Computers for Beginners; Introduction to Internet Safety for Beginners; ESOL classes (range of levels) at a local library
Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
