A course covering different aspects of drawing that gently leads beginners through a number of mindful exercises. Learn how to look more carefully at your subject in order to draw more realistically. The course provides a supportive environment for to develop your drawing using graphite pencils and give you the confidence to develop your own work.
Learning Goals:
- Demonstrate accurately the shape of the object and correct mistakes using pencil
- Describe how tone makes objects look realistic and apply this technique to achieve the illusion of three dimensionality in your drawing
- Demonstrate how to achieve a pleasing composition of objects on the page and compose a simple scene to draw
- Describe the benefits of using pencil drawing as a mindful activity to relax and promote a sense of achievement
- Self evaluate and celebrate your own creations, demonstrating an awareness of wellbeing
About the course: This course will introduce a range of drawing techniques to help you build your skills and confidence as you take part in mindful artistic exercises. Working in a small, friendly group, you’ll be guided to create your own unique pieces of artwork. The sessions offer a relaxed space to enjoy being creative, connect with others, and support your wellbeing through art
Who is this course for: People who would love to learn how to draw step-by-step in a fun, supportive and encouraging environment
Previous knowledge or experience: No experience necessary, but you’re welcome if you have a bit of experience too and would like to consolidate your knowledge
How will I learn: You will learn from watching the tutor demonstrate techniques then having a go yourself
How will I be assessed: There is no formal assessment. You will receive encouragement and constructive feedback throughout the sessions
