Suitable for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) who are new to the role or wish to refresh their understanding of this evolving role. Also suitable for those with supervisory oversight of DSLs/DDSLs.

In a Childminder setting, the Childminder is the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • 6-hour session
  • Delivered face to face by an experienced trainer through Hampshire County Council
  • Content encompasses an evolving national safeguarding lens and Hampshire safeguarding priorities
Designated Safeguarding Lead practitioners (DSLs, DDSLs) must attend a safeguarding course which enables them to identify, understand and respond appropriately to signs of abuse or neglect.

This 6-hour course will enable delegates to:
  • Understand the statutory responsibilities of a Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Recognise how to respond to an evolving safeguarding landscape and what that means for our children, families and communities
  • Embed a culture of safeguarding which effectively promotes the welfare of children and keeps them safe
  • Know how to use informed professional thinking to respond to safeguarding or welfare concerns and the Hampshire tools/resources used to support that thinking

Please note, lunch is not provided.
