This course supports the development of stronger communities by equipping learners with the confidence and skills to respond to emergencies, support others, and contribute positively to their local area.
A fully accredited OFQUAL certificate and course book can be issued on the day if required (£25 payable to the tutor).
Learning Goals:
- To identify and explain how to carry out at least 3 first aid procedures in order to preserve a life, prevent the situation worsening and promote recovery.
- To be able to perform and demonstrate a primary survey using DRSABCD when attending to a casualty.
- To demonstrate and perform safe and effective bleeding control when attending to a bleeding casualty.
- To explain how to prioritise treatment whilst minimizing risks to yourself and others.
About the course: This Emergency First Aid course is designed to be inclusive, practical, and community-focused. Through group-based learning and shared activities, learners will develop both practical skills and the confidence to act in real-life situations
Who is this course for: This course, funded by the UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ with little or no first aid experience. It is particularly suitable for:
- Individuals with caring responsibilities
- Volunteers or those interested in volunteering
- Active community members
- People returning to work who want to build confidence and employability
Please note: Eligibility criteria applies and will be checked upon enrolment. This course is not suitable for businesses or workplace training. We reserve the right to refuse bookings for business use.
Course purpose: To develop stronger communities
Previous knowledge or experience: None required
How will I learn: Tutor demonstration, individual and whole group practical activities.
How will I be assessed: Tutor observation.
What shall I bring: Please note this is a practical course involving floor-based activities. Wear comfortable clothing and bring refreshments (including lunch) for the day.
Next steps: Paediatric First Aid courses or maybe mental health first aid courses, other employability courses.
This course, funded by Hampshire Achieves, is aimed at Hampshire residents aged 19+. Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have. If you have limited mobility which could affect your ability to safely self-evacuate, please let us know when booking.
