Do you need to ask your GP for repeat prescriptions, book appointments, check appointment times and dates, or read letters from the Hospital, GP or other health professional. Well, you can access them over the Internet using your smart phone, iPad, tablet or Internet connected computer.
You will learn how to register for access and what the NHS online services can do for you. This FREE Workshop is aimed at adults who would like to use the NHS online service in a small, supportive group with guidance from an experienced tutor.

Learning Goals:

  • Search for and install the correct NHS online application onto a smart device.
  • Register for access to the NHS online service
  • Navigate the service and use the application with confidence

Who is this course for: This course, funded by UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ who have some prior experience using the internet and email on smart devices or a browser, and would like to setup their access and use the NHS.online service to facilitate managing their medical needs.

Please note: Eligibility criteria applies and will be checked upon enrolment.

Course purpose: To improve essential skills

Previous knowledge or experience: A basic knowledge of how to use a mobile phone, laptop or tablet to send and receive email and browse the internet.

How will I learn: You will learn at your own pace with the support of a qualified tutor, through a combination of tutor led demonstrations and practical activities which will be tailored to your learning goals and needs.

How will I be assessed: Through the completion of practical activities, tutor feedback and peer support

What shall I bring: A note pad and pen for note taking
One of the following: (with a working email address) personal mobile phone, tablet or laptop. Your Login details and password/s for each of the following: Your Device (i.e. Mobile phone, tablet or laptop), Google/Apple account, Email, NHS Online Service (if already registered) If not yet registered with NHS Online, then, either 3 Codes from your GP: A pass phrase / Linkage Key, An Organisation Code / Practice I.D. / O.D.S code, Account ID Or, a government issued Photo ID – one of the following: Passport, UK driving licence (full or provisional), UK application registration card (ARC), Citizen Card, European driving licence (full), European national identity card (Please note you will never be asked to share your password/s, this is simply to enable you to login to your device, the NHS online service and access our network seamlessly and securely)

Next steps: Your tutor will signpost you to additional course or workshops to meet your needs and support further learning. Further courses could include: Digital Skills for Beginners, Safe Digital Transactions workshop, Introduction to Computers for Beginners, Introduction to Internet Safety for Beginners.

Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
