To help individuals aged 40+ create personalised research-based strategies for
successful ageing.
Learning Goals:
- Identify and name four key aspects of successful ageing which are supported by scientific findings
- Apply and adapt four chosen scientific principles to your daily routines and assess their effectiveness
- Implement new habits and behaviours to support your ongoing positive ageing process
- Develop a strategic plan to proactively manage potential future circumstances and events that may arise as you age
Who is this course for: This course is ideal for individuals aged 40+ who are eager to adopt evidence-based habits that support physical, mental, and social well-being as they age
Previous knowledge or experience: No specific prior knowledge or experience is required to enrol in this course. It will be tailored to meet the needs of all participants, based on an initial assessment questionnaire
How will I learn: Through a combination of tutor-led presentations, group discussions, peer interactions, and experiential learning activities designed for practice between sessions
How will I be assessed: Assessment will be continuous and formative, including reflective journals to document daily applications of concepts, multiple-choice questionnaires, group discussions, and self-reports of experiences
What shall I bring: Please bring a notebook or journal and a pen to use throughout the course for taking notes and completing assignments
Next steps: Join an interest group, volunteer, enrol in further education, consider what may be identified during the course that will enhance your well-being and social interactions as you age
This course is aimed at Hampshire residents aged 19+ Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
