This course aims to support you be more confident to prepare for interview and answer questions including values based interview questions using the STAR technique.
Learning Goals:
- Consider the importance of communication skills and effect of stress on communication
- Effectively plan and prepare for interview to reduce stress
- Answer values based interview questions using the STAR technique
- Use reflective practice to consider your strengths and weaknesses
- Answer the interview question “what are your strengths/weaknesses” in a positive way
Who is this course for: This course, funded by UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ and is a supportive session designed to reduce interview anxiety and build communication skills. If you are unemployed or returning to work, this workshop will help you gain confidence to answer a variety of interview questions.
Please note: Eligibility criteria applies and will be checked upon enrolment.
Course purpose: Preparation for Employment
Previous knowledge or experience: A level of English comprehension sufficient to participate in class discussions and answer questions. (Level 1), Ability to use MS Teams to access the session
How will I learn: We encourage supporting each other to learn in small groups through group discussion, written tasks and individual and paired activities.
How will I be assessed: There is no formal assessment on the course material however, engagement in group discussions, completion of quizzes and written activities will help inform the tutor of where an individual may require additional support and signposting to further learning or support.
What shall I bring: Laptop or tablet with camera and compatible with MS Teams and a good WIFI connection (phones are not suitable for this course). A notebook and pen

This course, funded by Hampshire Achieves, is aimed at Hampshire residents aged 19+. Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have. If you have limited mobility which could affect your ability to safely self-evacuate, please let us know when booking.
