Since its development in the late 1980s, Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) has become the preferred approach for supporting individuals in social care settings. PBS is a comprehensive framework designed to improve a person’s quality of life while reducing behaviours that may arise from unmet needs. It emphasises understanding a person’s communication methods and promoting meaningful engagement through active support using a person centred approach.
This course introduces the core components of PBS and is suitable for staff supporting people who have learning disabilities, autism, older adults, or are living with dementia.
