To introduce learners to the creative art of macrame while providing a relaxing, hands-on experience that encourages focus, flow, and a sense of accomplishment through crafting a decorative wreath
Learning Goals:
- Identify and tie at least 3 different macrame knots
- Estimate and prepare cord lengths for macrame projects with confidence
- Create a personalised macrame wreath using the learned techniques.
- Explore simple ornament designs to enhance the wreath, encouraging creativity and self-expression.
About the course: This course combines creativity with relaxation, offering a mindful approach to learning macrame. Through simple knotting techniques and hands-on design, you’ll experience the calming benefits of working with your hands, focusing on rhythm and flow. You’ll leave with a beautiful handmade piece and practical skills to continue this craft at home.
Who is this course for: This course, funded by UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ who are looking to improve their mental, emotional or physical health through creative expression
Previous knowledge or experience: This course is designed for complete beginners or those wishing to brush up on their basic macrame skills.
How will I learn: By demonstration and practicing at your own pace.
How will I be assessed: Tutor observation and individual work
What shall I bring: All materials are provided for the fee of £10 per person (for the whole course) payable to the tutor on week 1
Next steps: More workshops through Learning in Libraries, attendance at free drop in arts and crafts sessions in your local library
This course, funded by Hampshire Achieves, is aimed at Hampshire residents aged 19+. Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have. If you have limited mobility which could affect your ability to safely self-evacuate, please let us know when booking.
