Managers Development Day

Empowered leadership: Putting wellbeing at the heart of prevention

Join us for a dynamic and engaging day dedicated to equipping managers and deputies with the knowledge and insights to lead with wellbeing at the forefront of their practice. This development day will explore hands on activities and thought provoking discussions, to help empower leadership and protect the wellbeing of teams and the  individuals being supported.

We are pleased to announce our guest speaker for the event is CQC. During their talk, they will:

Explore how we gather and use evidence from people’s lived experiences and family feedback to inform and improve our practice. Sharing learning around building strong, trusting relationships with families and how this contributes to a more person-centred, preventative approach to care and support.

Workshops:

Throughout the day, you will be able to attend 3 different workshops, gaining a wealth of knowledge in different areas. Here is what we have on offer on the day:

Moving & Handling - Down But Not Out – Unpacking the Hidden Risks of Time on the Floor

What really happens when someone is left on the floor for too long, following a fall? In this dynamic and eye-opening session, we’ll explore the silent but serious consequences of prolonged immobility—shining a spotlight on the physiological toll it can take, including the potentially life-threatening condition known as Rhabdomyolysis.

But we won’t stop at the science. This session is all about action. You’ll gain practical, hands-on strategies for supporting individuals from the ground up—literally. From low-effort techniques to high-assistance interventions, we’ll guide you through a progressive toolkit designed to empower confidence and ensure safety in real-world scenarios.

Whether you're on the front lines of care or shaping policy from behind the scenes, this session will leave you better equipped to turn risk into recovery.

Positive Behaviour Support - Considering the Trauma Informed Approach to Care

Many people using our social care services will have experienced trauma. People living with dementia may find it hard to separate traumatic events that have happened in the past from what happens in the present. People with a learning disability and autistic people are at greater risk of experiencing trauma through their lives than the general population.  Staff who support people can experience secondary trauma, and of course, have their own trauma histories.

This workshop will explore different types of trauma and acknowledge it’s impact on the people we support and how, using a trauma informed care approach, we can prevent re-traumatisation by creating safe and supportive environments for everyone in them.

Safeguarding - Signs, Indicators and Prevention

This collaborative workshop will support managers to recognise signs and indicators of abuse, developing their confidence to help and support staff to identify these as well. In addition, we will work together to consider how we can reduce the risks of abuse to our residents and service users as individual professionals, teams and across the organisations we work in.

Staff Wellbeing and Resilience

This interactive workshop will equip managers with practical tools and strategies to support not only their own wellbeing and resilience but also that of their teams. Recognising the pressures and responsibilities that come with leadership, the session will focus on how managers can provide proactive support in the workplace.

The workshop will cover - Self compassion, Circle of concern and influence, Wellbeing & supervisions/1:1s and Wellness action plans. By the end of the session, managers will leave with a toolkit of approaches they can immediately apply to foster a healthier, more resilient working environment.

…and more to be announced!

This day is a fantastic opportunity to network with other managers and deputies, share experiences and leave with actionable strategies to enhance your leadership approach.
