To provide a follow on course to allow the learner to develop their learning in sculpture,
focusing on creating a portrait in clay working from casts created from famous sculptors works. This course will also allow the learner to focus on their mindfulness whilst concentrating the technical skill of creating a sculpture.
Learning Goals:
- To develop your own sculpture charts relevant to the cast that you’ll work from
- Identify the value of using mathematics in all elements of your work from compositional structures, geometry in defining shapes and ratios in understanding life size to actual model proportions when a maquette is used
- Use the appropriate tools to complete 1:1 cast copy in water based clay
About the course: This course will develop your learning in sculpture by focussing on creating a portrait in clay working from casts created by famous sculptures works
Who is this course for: This course is for those that have taken the Mindful Sculpture course and/or for those that have worked in clay before. This course is for you if you wish to expand your learning to move toward portrait and figurative sculpture
Previous knowledge or experience: Learners must have completed the Mindful Sculpture course or have past experience with water based clay
How will I learn: You will learn working with the Tutors support and guidance, copying directly from the cast in front of you. You will work at a turntable on a table though it is expected that you will stand for some of the development of the piece
How will I be assessed: Your tutor will support you throughout
What shall I bring: Please bring a pen for sessions as you will be completing some forms and writing your own sculpture charts. You will also need to bring £20 contribution towards materials to be handed to the Tutor at the beginning of the first session

- 5 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued
This course is aimed at Hampshire residents aged 19+ Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
