To offer a range of simple mindfulness techniques to help you stress less, feel more grounded, and improve concentration in a busy world.

- Describe how the mind and body respond to stress
- Use mindfulness to tune into the present moment and manage everyday overwhelm
- Create a bespoke mindful plan that helps you to sustain your energy
About the course: Regular meditation practise has been demonstrated to have enormous health benefits. It does this by increasing our awareness of how our habitual thoughts can lead us into autopilot and pull us away from the present moment. Relaxation has massive health benefits because it activates the body’s own healing
systems.
Who is this course for: This course, funded by UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ who are interested in learning mindfulness techniques to help reduce their stress, feel grounded and improve concentration. Participants are expected to commit to 15-30 minutes of mindfulness meditation practice per day for the duration of the course, without which progress is unlikely.
Previous knowledge or experience: No previous knowledge is required. You will be asked to complete a health assessment form before you begin the course
How will I learn: Tutor demonstration, guided meditations (such as breathing, body awareness, and mindful walking), simple stories and metaphors, gentle movement, group reflection, and tutor feedback
How will I be assessed: Tutor feedback & self-assessment
Next steps: Further mindfulness workshops and courses, including Mindfulness for Busy Minds – Part Two, and regular mindfulness practice
Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
You will be contacted by a member of the learning in Libraries team prior to the course. We are unable to process your booking without a phone number.
