A theatrical talk that brings to life Jane Shaw Stewart, the 1st Superintendent of Nurses at Netley Military Hospital.
In 1868 Jane Shaw Stewart is forced to leave her position as the first Superintendent General of Nurses at the Royal Victoria Hospital, and an inquiry is held to investigate her behaviour. Will her friend and colleague Florence Nightingale offer support? In this theatrical presentation Jane Glennie tells the story of these two women as they fight to establish the nursing profession.
The performance will take place in the Royal Victoria Chapel. Entry to the building is by the rear door. A ticket is required for the performance, but admission to the exhibitions in the Chapel up to 2.45pm is free of charge. The performance is 45-60 minutes long and will be followed by Q&A.
Price: Tickets £10 per person. Suitable for ages 10+ years. Standard parking charges apply.
