Move, boogie & have fun! Enjoy gentle seated dance and exercise in a friendly, relaxed setting. Improve movement, flexibility and coordination and meet new people all from the comfort of a chair
Learning Goals:
- Safely participate in seated exercise activities to improve mobility, flexibility, and coordination.
- Demonstrate confidence in following simple movement and music-based exercise routines.
- Identify ways to incorporate gentle physical activity into everyday life to support wellbeing.
- Recognise the physical, emotional, and social benefits of staying active with others.
Aims of the Course: You will learn simple seated dance and exercise movements, helping to develop mobility, flexibility, coordination, strength, balance and confidence. You will also learn ways to incorporate enjoyable movement into everyday life.
Who is this course for: This course, funded by UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ who would like to enjoy gentle exercise, movement and dance in a friendly, welcoming and accessible environment. It is suitable for people with different levels of mobility and fitness, including those who prefer or need to exercise from a seated position.
Please note: Eligibility criteria applies and will be checked upon enrolment.
Course purpose: To improve health and wellbeing
Previous knowledge or experience: No previous dance or exercise experience is required. Learners are encouraged to work at their own pace and adapt movements to suit their individual abilities.
How will I learn: Through instructor demonstrations, guided movement, repetition and music-based activities.
How will I be assessed: Through observation, participation and informal feedback. Participants will be encouraged to recognise their own progress and improvements in confidence, movement and ability.
What shall I bring:
- Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely
- Comfortable, supportive footwear
- A bottle of water
- Any personal equipment or mobility aids you normally use
- A willingness to have fun and get moving!
Next steps: Practise at home, other sessions in your library, attendance at other sessions with a similar structure to help continue building on your progress and supporting you ongoing health and wellbeing,
