This workshop is suitable for non-mobile babies only. Unfortunately, siblings are not able to attend
Help participants feel confident responding to emergencies involving babies and infants, starting with resuscitation and choking, and then covering burns, minor injuries, and bites or stings. The session focuses on practical, easy‑to‑use skills for acting calmly and safely in everyday situations.
Learning Goals:
- Demonstrate paediatric choking response and basic resuscitation techniques
- Recognise and manage foreign bodies in the eyes, ears, and skin (e.g. splinters)
- Identify and treat different types of burns
- Apply appropriate first aid for minor bleeding and follow infection control principles
- Recognise and manage bites and stings
Who is this course for: This course, funded by UK government, is for Hampshire residents aged 19+ attending the New Parents Meet and Connect looking to develop a stronger sense of community and who have little or no first aid knowledge.
Please note: Eligibility criteria applies and will be checked upon enrolment.
Course purpose: To develop stronger communities
Please note: This workshop is suitable for non-mobile babies only. Unfortunately, siblings are not able to attend, as this helps ensure a focused learning environment for all participants and minimises distractions for parents and carers.
Previous knowledge or experience: None needed
How will I learn: Tutor demonstration,. Individual and whole group practical activities are optional.
Next steps: Full day accredited Paediatric or Emergency First Aid courses.
This course, funded by Hampshire Achieves, is aimed at Hampshire residents aged 19+. Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have. If you have limited mobility which could affect your ability to safely self-evacuate, please let us know when booking.
