Raising Resilient Children
Online course
Monday 28th September, 5th, 12th and 19th October 2026
7.00pm to 9.00pm
This course aims to help parents and carers support their child’s learning and emotional wellbeing. It will give you easy-to-use ideas to help your child feel confident, handle challenges, and stay positive. You’ll learn ways to build a strong relationship with your child, encourage good routines, and help them become more independent and resilient. Suitable from toddlers to age 11. To make sure everyone gets the most out of the course, please be aware that it focuses on general parenting approaches rather than personalised guidance for complex family situations, specialist SEND processes, or individual mental‑health needs. If you feel you may need more tailored support, we can help signpost you to the right services. We may also contact you before the course to ensure it’s a good fit for your needs.
Learning Goals:
- Describe the key characteristics of resilience and explain why resilience is important for children's wellbeing.
- Identify and explain three strategies that can help children manage emotions such as anxiety, anger and worry.
- Use three strategies to support their child's self-esteem and confidence, including encouraging new experiences, offering choice, and recognising strengths.
- Describe ways to prepare children for change and identify strategies that can help them manage associated feelings and emotions.
- Describe emotional intelligence and explain how developing emotional intelligence can support children's resilience and wellbeing.
