3.15pm to 4.00pm

Stay stronger for longer with this seated fitness course that will improve your mobility and strength for confidence in everyday activities. You will be guided through a series of stretch and flow routines to improve mobility seated to inspiring music. You will practice upper body strength exercises with light hand weights and the resistance band and core seated strength exercises. Working with resistance is optional. The session will conclude with balance exercises holding the chair for stability if you are able to. This is an inclusive course for all and standing at the end of the session with the aid of the chair is optional. I will also provide seated options.

Learning Goals:

  • Perform 2 stretch and flow seated routines to demonstrate improved mobility of the neck, spine, hips, knees and ankles.
  • Perform at least 4 strength exercises with the light hand weights and the resistance band including the bicep curl, tricep extension, chest press and leg press.
  • Perform 3-4 seated core strength exercises.
  • Self-evaluate the impact of exercise on wellbeing.

Who is this course for: This session will be fun and informal to inspiring popular chart music throughout the decades. The class will start with a warm up, followed by standing low impact dance routines that can be performed seated if necessary. Seated exercises for strength and mobility will form the focus for the second half of the class. A balance exercise routine using a chair as a barre to prevent falling and aid stability will be explored each week. A cool down and stretch to improve range of movement will conclude the class.

Who is this course for: This course is available to those looking to improve their mental, emotional, or physical health and wellbeing.

Previous knowledge or experience: No previous experience is needed.

How will I learn: By following the tutor and listening to verbal instruction.

How will I be assessed: There is no formal assessment. Your progress will be assessed alongside the learning goals.

What shall I bring: 0.5kg hand weights (optional) and water to stay hydrated.
