Summer Fruits in Pen and Wash

Gosport Discovery Centre

To enable learners to feel confident in creating a pen and wash picture of summer fruits

Learning Goals:

  • Experiment with combinations of pen and watercolour wash
  • Create 3 different summer fruits in pen and wash
  • Explore different compositions for your longer artwork
  • Choose and create your final design from the fruits and compositions you have created

About the course: Join Isabel for this fun and friendly pen and wash workshop, ideal for those new to pen and wash or those looking to gain confidence. We’ll be exploring different ways of creating fruits with pen and wash ready for you to create your final painting.

Who is this course for: Approachable sessions and activities to help you develop your skills using pen and wash techniques. Ideal for those new to pen and wash or those wanting to gain confidence.

Previous knowledge or experience: A basic understanding of how to draw (i.e. shading, texture, highlights and shadows) is helpful but not essential.

How will I learn: Through a range of activities and observing the tutor.

What shall I bring: Some visual prompts for summer fruits will be provided but please bring your own to help with this. 
A waterproof fine liner (NOT water soluble; it can be black brown or preferred colour. A small range of watercolour pencils. Some watercolour paints (tubes or pans). Watercolour paper (220gsm upwards). Cartridge paper (100gsm upwards). A biro or similar type of pen - any colour. At least one brush. Old cloth or kitchen roll. Palette. Water pot. A pencil (2B is fine). An Apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.

If a learner decides to withdraw from a course before a course begins, the following charges should be made:

  • 21 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued
  • 7 - 20 working days before course starts a £10 admin fee will be charged
  • Less than 7 working days before the course starts no refund will be made
