Tuesday 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th November 2025
10.00am to 12.00pm
Enjoy discovering how to paint in watercolours, and how to use the medium to achieve
different effects. Learn the basics and discover how to paint simple scenes using tried and tested techniques, taught through demonstration and hands on painting.
Learning Goals:
- Select appropriate brushes and paper to work with watercolour and identify and describe the techniques you will use
- Demonstrate use of tone and colour to create atmosphere, depth, light and perspective
- Describe and demonstrate different techniques for masking and preserving the white of the paper to create highlights, pattern and texture
- Demonstrate how to plan and paint an image from a reference and create 4 simple painted scenes of landscapes, still life and flowers
- Self-evaluate and celebrate your own creations, demonstrating an awareness of wellbeing
About the course: Explore how watercolours work and how to use them in a small, supportive group. Each week of this relaxing and friendly course focuses on a different element of art, colour and technique. You'll work on simple scenes as a calm and enjoyable way to build your skills, connect with others, and grow your appreciation of art
Who is this course for: People who would love to learn how to use watercolour to paint pictures step-by-step in a fun, supportive and encouraging environment
Previous knowledge or experience: No experience necessary, but you’re welcome if you have a bit of experience too and would like to consolidate your knowledge
How will I learn: You will learn from watching the tutor demonstrate techniques then having a go yourself
How will I be assessed: You will receive encouragement and constructive feedback throughout the sessions.
