Join published author Alice G May to examine the different routes via which
manuscripts can get published and to look at some of the many different writing processes.
- Discuss the different routes via which a book can be published; traditional, partnership and self-publishing paths
- Watch out for red flags to keep yourself and your writing safe
- Plan your writing journey
Who is this course for: This is a relaxed and friendly workshop for anyone interested in writing. Whether you write short stories, novellas or full-length fiction this course will be useful to help bring depth and realism to your characters. Alice G May is the author of The Resistance Girls, a World War Two historical thriller series published by Boldwood Books. She is also the author of The Mid-life Trials of Annabeth Hope, contemporary women’s fiction, and a memoir, The House That Sat Down. If you’ve been thinking about writing, but haven’t started yet, or if you have been writing for a while and want to know how to take your work to the next level, or, if you are simply fascinated with the writing process, then do come along and let’s chat

How will I learn: Through informal discussion
How will I be assessed: Through informal discussion
What shall I bring: Writing materials i.e. pen/pencil and paper or laptop. (If you are bringing a laptop, please make sure that it is fully charged as it will not be possible to plug it in due to health and safety issues with trailing cables.)
Next steps: Joining a writing group whether in person or on line. Attending more advanced writing workshops whether in person or on line. Attending writing festivals to meet other writers and learn how they are developing their work
If a learner decides to withdraw from a course before a course begins, the following charges should be made:
- 21 working days or more before course starts a full refund will be issued
- 7 - 20 working days before course starts a £10 admin fee will be charged
- Less than 7 working days before the course starts no refund will be made
